Overall, RF microneedling is not a painful procedure. Your provider will apply a topical numbing cream to the treatment area and give it time to take effect before proceeding. Most of our patients describe what they feel during treatment as a mild scratching sensation.
If you begin to experience pain or discomfort during your RF microneedling treatment, don’t hesitate to let your provider know. Your comfort is important to us. We’ll also do whatever we can to ensure you have the best experience possible.
You might be a good candidate for getting RF microneedling in Kansas City if:
- You have mild to moderate signs of aging
- You’re not currently pregnant or nursing
- You’re in good overall health
- You don’t have any bleeding disorders or blood-transmissible diseases

- Avoiding any topical agents that might increase skin sensitivity (including but not limited to exfoliants, retinoids, topical antibiotics, glycolic acid, and salicylic acid) for 1 week
- Not taking blood-thinning or anti-inflammatory medications and supplements (including but not limited to ibuprofen, aspirin, vitamin E, and fish oil). Consult your doctor if you’re taking these by prescription
- Avoiding direct sun exposure for 2 weeks
- Not shaving, waxing, or epilating
After your RF microneedling session, we recommend:
- Waiting for at least 4 hours before washing your face. When you do, use clean hands to apply cool water to the treated area. Showering too soon after treatment can irritate the skin
- Not icing your skin or taking any medications that could interfere with your body’s natural inflammatory and healing process (such as Advil, Motrin, and ibuprofen)
- Avoiding all harsh and/or irritating skincare products (such as exfoliants and retinoids) for at least 48 hours
- Avoiding strenuous exercise or any activities that could induce excessive sweating
